'Wipeout'

Backblip #2

Had a really lovely sleep in this morning. The night temperature dropped to a lovely 14 degrees or so and we left the side windows open in the tent to catch a nice subtle cross breeze. I think it was probably the most comfortable night I've even spent camping.

Up and drove into Port Campbell for breakfast of French toast with bananas and maple syrup. We didn't really have any plans for today so just went with the flow. First stop was at the 'Grotto' for a nice walk down to the view. A really special little spot about a 700m walk from the carpark area. Well worth the stop as I'd never been there before.

Back in the car and we decided to drive down to Port Fairy for lunch at Wisharts on the pier. They make the best fish n chips in town. When we arrived we noticed that there was a market set up just alongside the pier so went for a wander and we found a potter selling his work. I bought MsMun some of his stoneware bowls, the colours look great and I'm sure they will get plenty of use in our house.

Sat out on the grass in the shade of a tree eating our fish n chips before heading down to the surf beach for a look. We clambered out across the volcanic rocks to look for some crabs, which MsMun and the kids found about half a dozen or so while I was busy photographing the surfers. I've never taken any surf shots before and it was great to be able to get out quite close to the action.

The kids also found lots of starfish which they held as pets for a little while before setting them free in the rock pools once again.

Drove back to Port Campbell for dinner at Nico's, an Italian restaurant where we had a really lovely Persian pizza. Most unusual toppings but tasted brilliant.

Headed back down to the Gibson Steps to let the kids have a run around on the beach once again. No real sunset tonight.

Back to the campground for showers and bed. Another great sleeping night too.
