Trolley race

Set out from Arrowtown for a walk this morning, but got distracted when we could see a 'Finish' sign and lots of hay bales set up - turned out that there was a 'trolley race' going on. We stopped and watched for a while - all good fun - then headed off on our walk.

Absolutely beautiful walk - first following the town's irrigation pipeline, and up above the river through a beautiful valley/gorge, then crossing the river and climbing really steeply up a tiny little track. Stunning views on the way and it just kept going up and up, until eventually we had a stunning view over Arrowtown and beyond - so we stopped there to eat our lunch, slightly exhausted! (It was very hot, too. Beautiful sunny day and deep blue sky.)

Carried on along the track, back down to the river and into town to grab a coffee (Tim) and a chilli hot chocolate (me). The racing was still going on, so we had our drinks while watching the 'fun run' bit at the end.

After chilling out in our room for a while, we went back out, in the car this time - picked up some food shopping in Queenstown, then carried on to Glenorchy. Stunning views across Lake Wakatipu on the way. Got out in Glenorchy for a short walk to the lagoon - got some more lovely photos there, before my camera battery ran out.

Drove back to Arrowtown and went straight out for dinner - back to Pesto again. We did consider a couple of other places but the food was so good last night that we decided to go back there. Watched a nice NZ programme, 'This Town,' back in our room, then to bed.
