The Edge of the Wold

Knotty oak

Another day, another sunrise, again no blushing clouds, though the yellow of the early sunlight is picked up by the clouds. Here the view is through the oak where I blipped the perched buzzard before Christmas. The early morning sun lasted until lunchtime.

Gus and I had our lunchtime walk over the Helm. Rowan is in detention for a few days while Sue is on a course, and Gus missed his company. When we were coming down the hill to where the car was parked, Gus saw a collie being walked by a woman. He ran down and across the minor road to see them, not heeding my calls. It's rare for him not to respond, but I'm sure he thought it was his pal.

The days are getting longer, the first snowdrops are flowering in the garden, a song thrush was singing this morning, and yet we haven't had a proper winter yet. Temperatures are expected to go up overnight and tomorrow it will be as warm as a March day.
