Ouch!

Had to go to the dentist this morning for 2 fillings; once he'd drilled out the second one, he discovered that the one next to it needed doing as well, so I had the unexpected "pleasure" of a third one.

If this wasn't painful enough, the roof man finally called this afternoon and, as I feared, it was more bad news: the old tiles, whilst looking colourful, are "shaling" (the tile equivalent of decaying and full of cavities, apparently) the waterproof lining has become brittle due to the damp and is no longer waterproof and the joists are beginning to rot. Inevitable, I suppose, in what is the original roof, over 100 years old, but more (and very expensive) pain that we could do without.

Enough to make me feel a bit down in the mouth!
