Celebration....Robert Louis Stevenson

Met my friend Libby for lunch today and asked her if she would step in instead of me and facilitate an inter-active art event using mud because I will be on holiday.

She agreed. It is an evening to celebrate the work of Robert Louis Stevenson in Blairlogie village hall organised by George Sutherland.

Stevenson has strong connections with this area. Not only did he spend holidays here in Bridge-of-Allan as a child but one cave along the Allan Water is believed to be the inspiration for Kidnapped and Treasure Island and I have used mud from this cave in a series of paintings.

and a local doctor, Gilbert Farie is believed to have been the inspiration for Jekyll and Hyde.

All this will be covered in an evening celebrating his work with excerpts from his prose and poetry followed ( after suitable refreshments) by some inter-active art where the audience will be invited to make paintings using mud from his cave.
