Lunar Landscape

Had a walk at Hurstwood, Nr.Burnley - windy, chilly but not raining (it had been earlier).
The weird humps and hollows of Shedden Clough don't look natural and they aren't. This lunar landscape was created in the 17th and 18th centuries when limestone was extracted by "hushing", using water to scour away clay from Ice Age boulders. This is what was left - 300 years of Mother Nature has covered them over with a thin layer of grass.
