An even wetter day

After a wet day yesterday, today turned out to be even wetter. We had an errand to run in the city so we headed in that direction once again. Mission accomplished, and a morning coffee in John Lewis we contemplated the day's entertainment. Having done the Art Gallery yesterday, at any rate having done the cafe in the Art Gallery I decided on the maritime museum.

The Maritime Museum is on five floors, running down the centre of the Museum is a model of the Murcheson oil platform. This is a rather old platform, having started production around 1980ish. It is now about to be decommissioned. I suspect it may be the largest decommissioning so far undertaken.

Part of the Maritime Museum building comprises a converted church. The 5th floor of the museum is level with the top of the church just below the roof. The photograph here is taken from top of the former church overlooking the harbour. The view is substantially the same as I took a few days ago from ground level, and these are the same two ships in the harbour.
