Now, you know I am a great admirer of the lifestyle on the canals and waterways of the Great Britain.

I walk along the local canal or river many times a week, watching the comings and goings and secretly hankering for a boat of my own.

The pace of life ( 4 mph), the view of nature, the cameraderie, are all things I value.

However, the cold snap opens another window in my mind. How cold is it inside when there is a quarter inch of frost on the roof? How easy is it to get a boat up to temperature? At what temperature does diesel freeze??
