Optimism or Pessimism?

I love these old style sledges for sale outside a bric-a-brac/furniture shop in our local market town. I am not sure whether they are optimistic for the snow to allow 'playtime' or they are pessimistic that there will be so much snow that they are the only potential form of transport?..I think I will vote optimist!
