Ringed Reed Bunting

Well this might not be the best quality picture I have posted but I am really chuffed with it. This is one of the birds that my friend has trapped and placed a ring on (identified by a silver ring on the right leg). I have been watching the Reed Buntings in my garden for a few weeks now and at last one with a ring has turned up. It's a shame the weather conditions were rubbish with rain and poor light which didn't allow for a good shot. She is over the moon and thanks me for my perseverance.

I had the opportunity not so long ago to witness the netting and ringing of birds first hand. It's quite amazing as to how calm they remain during weighing and ringing.
