'Carpet' Gate

His Lordship and I had a lovely walk up the hills behind Carlops this morning. It was a bit muddy in places, but the day was still and mild. This gate was so appropriately named as the drive behind it was a carpet of russet leaves. Afterwards on the spur of the moment, we went into the Allan Ramsay inn in the village and had scones with jam and cream and a pot of tea. Delicious!
Then it was home to the castle to disconnect the errant washing machine in readiness for its successor tomorrow. I have to say that any plumbing beneath stairs here is fraught with difficulty because of the age and adaptations which previous incumbents have seen fit to install. However I am happy to announce that his Lordship did well in managing to disconnect everything without flooding the kitchen. So far so good! I have a friend who used to say when our children were much younger that she would like to have a plumber, an electrician and a joiner amongst them when they grew up. I would add a painter as well. Didn't happen though!
Today there is another family birthday - our Loch Rannoch Grandson ( who unfortuntely seems to have the vile virus which circulated in the castle recently) is 8 today.
Happy Birthday Seb!
