Tay Ghillie

In the footsteps of giants

Cattle have roamed this path for hundreds of years. This is the Thieves' Road that passes to the South of the Pentland Hills and was a favoured route of the Borders Reivers as they returned home with the hairy beasties that they had stolen from the highland glens.

A pretty wet day here today, but full of interest none the less.

1) The rock carvings on the summit of Craigengar
2) The man in a suit & tie I met in a very remote spot with a clipboard in his hand who was walking the boundary of North Slipperfield estate. He still had over 40kms to do and it was only 2 hours till dark - I don't think so!
3) The ringed bird that I found that had been killed by flying into a fence. What is the chance of me crossing the fence at the very point the bird struck??
