Le Château des seigneurs de Buzet, France

Probably worth a look at the details in large

The Château des seigneurs de Buzet a 13th century Château, that looks just like a fairy-tale castle, but I suppose fairy-tale castles were built on realistic buildings.

22 june 1944 the SS regiment Deutschland, stationed in the château, executed 6 members of the French Resistance and 5 other civilians accused of helping the Resistance. Two tried to run away, jumped into the Garonne river, where they were machine gunned - the other three died during their deportation to a concentration camp.

The château sits among the vineyards of Buzet and is now owned by a private owner and is not open for visits.

I hope your Thursday is a good one.
