Freaks and Geeks

Do you like our style? Thom, Clare and I just before we headed for pre-drinks for Skool Dayz with Big Band. Many fun games, and many stories were told. The evening was also pretty awesome, with amazing music and some hilarious stories to be told the next day to everyone we could!

Before Skool Dayz, Thom and I headed to Improv: The Musical, an MTW show where six performers go into a show without any music, songs, words or even a script and then the audience tells them how to begin. So all they were given was:-

Setting: The Daily Mail Offices
Two characters: Psychic Meg, the Devil
First song: Must be an asylum seeker

They then had to go from that.

Cue a story of the Daily Mail editor signing his soul away to the Devil so he would protect him in the upcoming Apocalypse. In return the Devil wanted the editor to make up stories about alien invasions to distract the public from the real problem. The Devil then masqueraded as a new intern going by the name of Dennis Evil (said Evl), and then the story continued, with one journalist unhappy about telling stories that had no proof in them (Cue the song, 'The Public Don't Want News [They Want Stories]'). All of the songs are sung with a piano, where the pianist would play the introduction using the chords they were planning on using. And that was all the performer got.

At half time they then asked what should happen next, to which Thom shouted out, "Actual alien invasion"...followed by someone else saying with Tony Blair as their leader. The audience were then asked what kind of song they would like to hear between Tony Blair and the Devil. Answer? A love song of course! To which someone else requested a ballet solo in the middle. This of course then happened, to the song 'You Went Down To Hell [And Left Me Behind]'.

I don't think I've laughed so much in a long time. Such a brilliant idea, a brilliant show and of course, it could not have been done without the amazing performers.
