January Challenge - Collage

Day 30 of DDW's January daily challenge - Collage

I had a bit of a shock when I checked out the dictionary definition of collage as it seems that there should be some variety in the materials, and that they wouldn't normally be connected.

1. a technique of composing a work of art by pasting on a single surface various materials not normally associated with one another, as newspaper clippings, parts of photographs, theatre tickets, and fragments of an envelope.
2. a work of art produced by this technique.
3. an assemblage or occurrence of diverse elements or fragments in unlikely or unexpected juxtaposition.
4. a film that presents a series of seemingly unrelated scenes or images or shifts from one scene or image to another suddenly and without transition.

So my idea of a quick collage (junk advertising diverted on it's way too the recycling bin), strictly isn't a collage - they're not stuck down, and they are all advertising flyers/leaflets etc. I now feel much better educated, and look out the next person who proudly shows off a collage that isn't one!
