Belle de Boskoop

Planted in the spring of 2010, this is one of the newer apple trees that was a little hard to see in yesterday's garden shot. A lot of care is taken in the first few years to prune and train the trees to an open upright shape. You can see a crisscrossing of braces and string to emphasize the structure we are after. I'm hoping we get some good apples this year, but no one can predict what will happen because of the drought and the funny warm weather we've been having this past month.
