Sunshine at last....

We took advantage of a brief respite in the wet weather and went to Fountains Abbey (nr Ripon in North Yorkshire) this morning. There were clear blue skies when we set off but when we arrived it already began to cloud over.

As we were getting ready in the car park a huge herd of deer came running past (about 200 metres away). It was a fantastic sight but I hadn't got my camera out of the bag and so missed it completely!

Despite the sunshine it was bitterly cold with a very stiff wind blowing down the valley.There were some gaps in the clouds - and I was fortunate to be in this location when the sun appeared to light up the stones.
