Compass points - NORTH

On a clear day we can see the Pyrenees trailing off into the distance on the coast above Girona quite well, but not today. I could only just make out a couple of peaks because the sun was catching the snow.

You can see three strips of land running away from us up to the far pine trees. On the left are almond trees, a bit neglected now that the owner has died and his wife and children live in Barcelona. They make occasional visits to their house in the village but no longer seen to do much to the land. I suppose it's just too much work. In the centre are olive trees, most of which have been planted since we moved here, and to the right and owned by the same person are these young olive trees.

Compare with this blip from June 2009.

The forecast was right, it's much colder today. It said 2 deg C in the village so that's probably 1 deg in the countryside, never mind the wind chill... which was vicious this morning.
