Fab Foodie weekend!

We are back home now after a super weekend being entertained by Grace and John in North Bristol.

The weekend has been dominated by food (and drink). On Friday we went  to the pub down the road for spicy pulled pork, cheesy chips and burgers.

Yesterday down in the centre of Bristol we went to the wonderful St Nicholas market with its food stalls from around the world and even eating semi outdoors we enjoyed wonderful warm food from Portugal. Chris and I had cod in cream (a sort of fish pie) and Grace and John had ribs and Feijoada ( a pork and red bean stew).

It was then our treat and treat it was at a South Indian restaurant in Gloucester Road.
Some years ago we met up with G&J in Kerala so it was great to have lots of foods taking us back there together with our reminiscences. We had Wada, Idli, Dosa and Keralan dishes with chick peas, fish, chicken and lamb!

A short stroll down Gloucester road this morning for a few provisions brought us to this wonderful establishment. Bristanbul! I have bought food here before and it has a wonderful eastern influence. We were having soup and toasted cheese  scones, which I had taken down, for lunch so we supplemented these with feta cheese and spinach pastries and haloumi and olive bread.

Oh and did I mention the tiffin bought on the quayside market that we had whilst watching the rugby - well we resisted the chocolate bread!

If you want to eat well go to Bristol, particularly Gloucester Road, there's food from all over the world.

Thank you Grace and John, we will be back soon ( when I have lost a bit of weight!)
