Dawn

A deep red in the eastern sky chased the night away heralding a glow of flaming orange seen through the trees like the maw of a furnace.
I watched as streamers of peach spread over the sky towards me. Within seconds the whole sky was suffused in a palette of deep pinks and mauves, fading towards the west.

Twenty minutes later and the show was over, replaced by a light cloud cover; a transient display of colour lost to a grey world. But a grey world which was brightened later by meeting friends we hadn't seen for a while and who were happy to be enticed to the Dower House to share a pot of soup and craic with us.
What a great way to start the week.
