Sunset – Mequat Mariam

Today was a long but beautiful day, hiking through the countryside up in the mountains near Lalibela. We are much higher here, so the land is greener and there are more trees, predominantly eucalyptus.

We reached the place where we will be staying for a couple of nights – a village called Mequat Mariam. The view from the huts was just stunning. Mountains that curved and twisted in the valley below. With the light from the sunset, you could almost believe you were looking out at the ocean.

It's here where we'll be celebrating Timkat. I can't wait.
