Musings of a Mortal

A Carpet of White

Finally I managed to get out and get to Dalmeny woods and start shooting the wonderful carpet of snowdrops that are snuggled up out of the view of the watching world.....

....The estate have in the past charged people - on one Sunday in late February - the privilege of bringing their cars in and then being able to walk up to where they are - however over the past couple of years they have not.....but you are allowed to walk thru the estate as long as you keep to the marked roads.......mmmmm....and it goes without saying the locals know where to find the "Treasure!!".

It had been a lovely morning but as I had stuff to do around the house , I never got out until the afternoon and would you know it, as soon as I got there, it started to rain - just showers but rain none the less.

So I waited...and waited a bit longer until the last of the showers went off and then in the peace and quiet of the woods, managed to get a good few shots, one of which I share today.

Landscape photography can at times be frustrating - patience is the key - waiting until the light and shadows are just right and the click - in a fraction of a second (or maybe a few if you have the "Big Stopper" fitted) the scene is recorded - and with it patience is rewarded as you have captured (hopefully) what you have waited for.

A bit like many things in life....patience is often the key and yet in this instant world we live in, I wonder if we have lost the skill of being patient - waiting until the time is right and then being rewarded by that moment that we have been waiting for. Its a skill worth discovering again as so much can be learned....if we are just patient.
