Absolutely Positively Wellington

Today's the day ...................... for the 'coolest little capital in the world'

We spent the day exploring New Zealand's Capital City - Wellington.

It's marketed by the award-winning regional tourism organisation Positively Wellington Tourism as the 'coolest little capital in the world'. And, I have to say that, after spending time there - I can see what they mean.

It has all the hallmarks of a capital city - lots of shops, restaurants, venues for sport (Rugby 7s starting on Friday), theatres, cinemas, multi-storey headquarters of banks and other businesses, vibrant port and all the rest. It has probably the best museum I have ever visited in Te Papa. It has fantastic sculpture trails and many eye-catching pieces of architecture. But for all that - it is very accessible to everyone and there is a friendly, quirky feel to everything that you come across.

Where else would you have a harbour frontage capable of coping with huge cruise liners, multi-million pound yachts, canoeists and two swimmers - without batting an eyelid?

This ladies' loo was a perfect, quirky example ................
