Wetherby Weir

Popped into Wetherby this morning and I am glad I had my camera with me to get a photo - it has been raining ever since I got home!

The picture is of a giant cog wheel that was in the mill that used to be on the land next to the weir. It was turned by water wheel power from the weir. When the land was redeveloped for flats this was unearthed - and so Wetherby Weir Preservation Trust (who had rebuilt the weir some years previously) had it restored and the developer had it installed here to preserve some local history.

Next to it on the left is the Spawning Salmon sculpture I have blipped previously.
