Sunset behind the neighborhood Ashram

Cleo and I walked 2 miles around Bob's school this morning. It is in a very upscale neighborhood. Aside from the fact that many of the houses were garish mansions, there were some remarkable differences compared to the Coronado neighborhood in the Urban core:

Sidewalks were rarely present, even on busier roads.

When we passed by houses, there were no dogs barking. Perhaps the houses and yards are so large and set back that the dogs simply don't see pedestrians go by. That is certainly a favorite canine pastime in our hood.

The people seen outside walking or jogging in the neighborhood were very old, whereas you see a mix of all ages in Coronado.

The rest of the people who were out and about were "The Help" - landscapers, delivery services, contractors, and even a group & a semi tractor trailer from St Mary's Food Bank harvesting citrus fruit from someone's yard. (This neighborhood used to be citrus farm land and some houses still have numerous citrus trees, which smell divine this time of year).

The neighborhood is very Quiet. It was not as interesting to Cleo, as there were not as many good smells about. It was almost eerily quiet to me. Not that our neighborhood is as noisy as, say, a neighborhood in NYC. But our neighborhood is hopping compared to this one.

Since we haven't won the lottery yet, we will gladly keep our little Coronado bungalow. I am beginning to hope that February will be the month we will actually finish the front bathroom. I know Bob will appreciate not having to trek all the way to the back if the house for a late night bathroom call. Me, too.
