An interesting day.....

I was awoken by the noise of my phone buzzing this morning. Not because of a text or email, it was because the power had gone out and as it was plugged in charging overnight it was letting me know it was no longer charged.

No power in the room so couldn't have any lights on to see where the toilet was. I think I aimed in the general direction. Power came back on a little later and went down to breakfast. But when we were in there the power went off again and this time for good. Over 0.5 million people affected in Philly.

The reason behind this was another winter storm this time bringing rain and ice which froze on contact with whatever it touched (blipped - note trees sagging), and the added weight of it brought down numerous trees and power lines.

So training (which had already been moved to the hotel from HQ) was delayed as we had to find a room with power to do the PowerPoint presentations. Luckily there was a room under generator power so we largely did all we were meant to including several people dialling into conference call and putting phone on speaker in order to listen to remote speaker.

After training they announced hotel was closed due to no power or heating but luckily it was only a regional weather event and areas nearby were still on the grid. So we had rooms booked at a nearby doubletree at king of Prussia mall and got shipped over there to finish off the rest of the week. Have to share a room now though but I'm sharing with one of our new specialists who I will be working closely with in the coming year which is good bonding!

Went out to one of the only local restaurants open and drank some beers to celebrate getting through the day!
