WAREHOUSE

Welcome to Driffield, East Yorkshire UK – and the base of agricultural merchant of James Mortimer Ltd.
This warehouse is still working today.
The business was founded by John Robert Mortimer (1825–1911) - an English corn-merchant and archaeologist who lived in Driffield, but was born in the small village of Fimber.

His business included trade in seed, manure, fertilizer and he also owned malt kilns and a brewery.

In 1878 Mortimer opened a purpose built museum. He excavated over 300 local earth mounds, recording and collecting archaeological finds which remain a valuable resource to this day.
