Missed opportunity

Not the best of nights to be a Coventry Blaze fan as they lost their second away game of the weekend to Sheffield Steelers after a defeat the night before in Braehead.

This shot by Russ Cowley on an early breakaway was deflected by the Steelers net minder.

It was the first time for about 5 years I'd photographed in Sheffield and I'd forgotten how tight it can be. It was good however to get away from the Sky Dome and shoot somewhere different. The sight lines were different and you're very close to one goal giving great close ups but then miles away from the other so I was very much relying on being able to crop in.
