At My Disposal

My daughter is still asking lots of questions about death and what happens to animals' bodies when they die. I made the mistake of using a chipmunk as an example of an animal that dies in the forest and eventually gets buried by leaves and pine needles*, but she caught me: "Not the chipmunks our dogs catch, mom. When they die, you put them into a plastic bag and put them out in the garage."

*Yes, I know it's a bit sugar-coated and yes I know all about decomposition and carrion-seeking scavengers, but she's only four.
