Toby Jug or Character Jug?

Do you know the difference? This is one of my small collection of jugs made by Roy Kirkham of Staffordshire. They are from a collection of characters from Charles Dickens novels. This is Mr Pickwick who embodies the conviviality, lively appetite and good humour that is an enduring part of an Englishman’s self-image. When the rotund, bespectacled gentleman first appeared in 1836 the public immediately fell in love with him, and his creator. So back to my question - is he a character jug or a Toby jug? Well, since he portrays the entire body of the person, he is indeed a Toby jug - if he had portrayed just the head, then he would be a character jug...
