At home: 500 words

Ella has written a story. She is entering it into Chris Evans Radio 2 young writers competition, 500 words.

Its surprising how hard it is to write a fictional story that is only 500 words. Ella has actually written 700 words. We are now editing. Ella has said, "but there is nothing to take out". I tell her, "you must lose 200 words". Ells generally speaking likes to say more than is required. She is a detail person. She likes to make sure that everyone has heard the exact situation that she is picturing in her mind. I suppose that sort of mind is great to have in writing.

She still hasn't edited down. I think someone impartial will be able to edit it better. I think she needs to show it so someone who isn't involved, like her teacher. The deadline is the 26th February, so she has plenty of time. Her brothers want to enter now. Here we go again....x
