WAITING IN THE COLD

Reggie had planned to enjoy some of the other Olympic events as a spectator since he finished his own competition for Team Squirrel yesterday. He’s waiting for his friends to pick him up so they can go together – but he’s waited a really long time. He was overheard mumbling, “Where the heck are they? Dang, I’m freezing up here.” He’s sure they told him to meet them at the corner of Oak and Walnut.

The silent heros of the Olympics are the marvelous technicians who make sure everything is running smoothly. When the crucial photo-finish camera quit working, they sent Special Tech. Elmer to check out the equipment. Aha! He found the problem quickly –the pole that suspends the camera high above the finish line was broken in two. Elmer will have a new pole installed immediately so the races can go on. They have yet to determine whether this incident was due to malicious intent or just an accident - we’ll be reporting more on this later.

One thing for sure, in order to maintain their edge, the Olympic-level athletes must train and practice every day, no matter how dull and boring it seems. For the few who just can’t bring themselves to work out at the gym, the coach of Team Squirrel has tried enticing them with a few treats – healthy treats, of course, in the weight room. Hey Charlie – you can’t hide under these weights. To get that peanut you might just have to lift them after all – how about 20 reps while you’re at it, Charlie?

It’s so much fun seeing everyone’s AOG blips & journals - the creativity has been amazing! Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!
