Celebrating life

By DeeS

Before the storm

A bracing walk along the clifftop
To an ancient site and modern pub
Became a battle for survival
On the journey home
When the storms across the sea moved our way
And lashed us with rain and hail
From heavenly buckets
As thunder crashed,
Leaving us as sodden
And battered
As the cliffs themselves.

Friends arrived today and our walk to Reculver Towers turned into a big adventure so that when we got home it was baths, showers, clothes in the washing machine and boots on radiators, followed by steaming mugs of hot chocolate and teaching the kids Mastermind and backgammon - which they picked up in an instant. Fabulous afternoon rounded off with great food cooked by Tom and a glass or several of wine. A perfect afternoon.
