Above And Beyond...

A Dry Day

With the weather forecast of a nice day correct, we set off for one of our favourite walks. We normally park at Monmouth Rowing Club on the river bank. Today that was impossible as it was flooded as you can see from the blip foto! The floodgates nearby were also closed, and this stops quite a few houses in the town flooding.

We walk up to The Kymin Naval Monument overlooking Monmouth, and then along Offas Dyke footpath and back along the river bank into Monmouth. This is about 6 miles. The river bank, in parts, was flooded, so a good mile was chopped off by sticking to the Monmouth to Chepstow Road.

The nearby Rugby and cricket pitches were completely under water.

It's going to take more than one good day to dry things out!
