the only way is down

The water has been hammering down the River Derwent for weeks lets hope that from today the levels here and elsewhere start to fall.

Nearby I spotted a poem attached to railings hidden around a corner, I googled it and there are apparently more in the vicinity. I must open my eyes more. It over looks the the weir and an old mill;

VITAL VALLEY
One restless river, the weight of wheels,
made machines move,
manned mills.
Labour laid
landscapes,
wove worlds. While
seasons spin, rivers run,
remember
