Dawn from the loft

A southerly front rolled in at dawn today. For a few minutes the sky looked quite unusual with the sun shining through the clouds like a huge spot light.

Somehow a fitting dawn for Armistice Day. It's amazing to think it is 91 years since WW1 ended, a war in which 18,500 New Zealanders died. To put it in perspective that was 10 percent of our population (and doesn't include those injured in mind and body).

I wonder what my Granddad-Boo made of Armistice Day, what he thought and what he felt? He returned but still had to live with his experience of the Western Front.

Lest we forget.
