Veteran's Day

Roger was home today, in observance of Veteran's Day. We stayed home in the morning - he was out clearing leaves again, then we went biking this afternoon. Before going to the bike trail, however, we stopped at the Veteran's Memorial Park in Blue Ash. This is one of eleven life-size sculptures, arranged in a circle, representative of 11 wars: the American Revolution, the War of 1812, Mexican War, Civil War, Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, and Persian Gulf War. Behind each sculpture is a 20-foot bronze-colored flagpole flying the flag from that era. Around the edge of the park were placed (for the week) the flags of each state, and within the park, the flags of each of the armed forces. For another view of the memorial, see here.

The bike ride was tough - I dont know why - the bike trail is relatively flat and I only did 15 miles (Roger did 18!), but coming back, I was having to stop every couple of miles! Maybe it has something to do with the 60 laps I swam at the pool yesterday! Now we're off to choir!
