End of the line...

This is part of the large complex of buildings in Kirkcaldy, that formed the world's Centre for Linoleum manufacturing, from as far back as 1877. It is one of the last shots that will ever be taken of the main building, since demolition work starts tomorrow, and is due for completion in about 6 weeks time.

The van in the picture belongs to the demolition company. When I was taking this shot, some people were assessing the building in readiness for the start of work tomorrow.

The main building featured in the BBC's Restoration programme back in 2003, when its case was pleaded, unsuccessfully, by Michael Portillo.

Opposite the site is Braehead House the old headquarters of the Nairn Corporation. I live in one of the apartments created within the building. I Blipped about Braehead House almost a year ago.
