Schönes Wochenende (have a great weekend)

One of the many things I like about working here is when people in your team leave for the day (or indeed arrive for the day), they always pop in to say Cheerio or Hello. You hear "Schönes Wochenende" a lot on Fridays. I think it's one of the nicest things I get to say.

I'm on my own on Monday and I'm looking forward to it.

A bit like tonight at home. G is off to the theatre with friends and it's just me and the cats here.

I didn't go to the theatre because it's Kabarett - a very German thing. It involves a lot of word play and normally political satire. And it's still too fast for me. I can cope with Oliver Welke and the Heute Show - if I've got headphones on and I can hit the PAUSE button. Last week I managed the whole skit on Hans-Peter Friedrich without pausing. But it takes a lot of concentration.

Still I laughed a lot at Welke's description of Friedrich - "Der ehemalige Minister für Steckrüben & Kuhscheisse". Still makes me smile.
