Save a Tree?

Busy, Busy week. Today I was in Swansea delivering two workshops on equality, which went well. Always interesting to find out more about the difficulties that trade union reps encounter when they are trying to promote equalities in their workplaces and branches. This was specifically about the learning agenda - providing learning opportunities is a huge and ever growing area of work for trade unions. So those who think trade unions are not relevant in today's society are very much misled, we aren't only about strikes but we exist to protect workers' rights in so many ways. Providing opportunities for training and improving skills (which not all employers will do for their staff) if hugely important in overcoming disadvantage of just being born into the 'wrong' place or the 'wrong' part of society.

This afternoon I had a consultation response to deal with but couldn't because we needed to get the paperwork out for a conference next week. I'm a policy officer and not paid to do admin but under resourced we are, and overworked I am. Here is a typical pre-conference set up. Times this by 20 for the quarterly committee meetings and you begin to understand how bureaucratic democracy can get.
