Ambiguity at the Arboretum

Went today to the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas. Interesting, and we had a pleasant walk along the River Tame - BUT - it's basically a place to glorify war, with memorials to the thousands upon thousands 0f mostly young men who have been killed since WWI. The fact is, it IS an old lie to say that

Dulce et Decorum est
Pro patria mori

so WHY are they still saying it??

The photo is of the altar in the chapel, and the quote is from a hymn written by GK Chesterton, which I don't think is talking about war at all - quite the contrary, and I rather resent an author I love being misrepresented like this.

Stole the idea for the title from this blog which gives a good description of the chapel, with its sword posing as a cross, which you can just see the point of behind the sunlit cross.
