Wouldn't want to be a small mammal

Today we went to the International Centre for Birds of Prey at Newent. Was a bit sceptical that the £11 entrance price was bit much but have to say it was well worth the money.

Fabulous flying displays from a variety of birds - almost personal as we were 2 of only 6 visitors. It is not all that comfortable seeing such beautiful birds tethered and caged but there are good reasons for it and the centre has been leading the way in raptor conservation for almost 50 years.

This is a juvenile Steller Sea Eagle from Asia. It is the largest raptor at the centre where they are very successful at breeding. In the wild there are only around 5000 birds left.

A really enjoyable day with some fantastic birds. The staff were all very helpful and cheerful and their dogs were also entertaining!

Thank you all for your comments, faves and stars. It meant that my 500th blip was also my first to hit spotlight!
