Bell Tower

This bell tower is the only surviving part of the church that stood on this site. The rest of the building was destroyed when the Jacobite Army's gun powder which was being stored there exploded in 1746.

There is evidence that suggests this site has been in use since at least the mid 12th century if not earlier,

The bell tower is still used by St Ninians Old Parish Church, which occupies a nearby site, built around 1750, to replace the one destroyed by the explosion.
