Lozarhythm Of The Day:
The Marvelettes - Too Many Tears, Too Many Times (recorded 28-29 September 1965)
As a proud owner of both volumes of The Marvelettes Forever/Forever More - The Complete Motown Albums box sets, I have everything the Marvelettes ever recorded for the Tamla label, between 1961 and 1970, by which time they had disbanded. They are probably my favourite Tamla Motown group.
I have been playing Volume Two quite a lot recently, and on this day I was listening to the album In Full Bloom, originally released in the U.S. in 1969 but never released in the UK, or ever on CD anywhere in the world until this boxed set.
By this time the girls were a trio of Wanda Rogers, Katherine Anderson and former Motown session singer Ann Bogan, who had recently replaced founder member Gladys Horton. However, this track from the album was rescued from the Tamla vaults were it had languished for four years, and features Wanda, Gladys and Kat.
