Murder and Mayhem in Torquay

Torquay is not renowned for being exciting. It is, in fact a rather sleepy place, particularly in the winter where there is a preponderance of the middle class retired frequenting the numerous cafes and restaurants around the town.
It was therefore a surprise to drive into the town this afternoon and witness what looked like an execution on the green opposite the town beach. Not sure what was going on but it was a photo opportunity I couldn't miss.
We had just completed a long walk that ended up in the most beautiful pub/hotel in Churston, just outside Brixham. It was very , very squelchy underfoot but the weather was warm enough to sit outside. The dogs lay quietly at our feet, we ordered freshly caught crab sandwiches and felt that it couldn't get any better. Simple pleasures.
