Ghost Forest

I met Jennie for lunch and we wandered down to Trafalgar Square to have a coffee in the sun. We were very surprised to see huge trees around the square. This was the first day of Ghost Forest - an artist's installation to heighten the awareness of deforestation of the rainforests. The ten tree stumps are all rainforest trees from Ghana, which fell naturally. Several of the trees would have reached the height of Nelson's Column in the square. That really brought home how massive these beautiful trees would have been. Only 4% of Ghana's indigenous rainforest is still standing. Makes you think.

I could quite decide which picture to post - there are more here. I had fun testing out the manual setting on the camera and trying to snap a good night picture - a bit tricky without a tripod and only my knee to lean on.
