The Hills are alive

Although we are in the middle of the 6 Nations, these rugby shirts are on sale for another reason. We are approaching March 1st which is the feast day of Saint David , who is the patron saint of Wales.
It is a tradition that on St Davids Day, the young schoolchildren dress up in a pseudo traditional dress. In my day, for the boys, it consisted of a flat cap, flannel waistcoat and clogs. Today it has been overtaken in popularity by the rugby shirt.
David was a bishop, who was renowned for his teaching and preaching. He was made a saint after he created a mound on which he could talk to his congregation. He was preaching in the middle of a large crowd at the Synod of Brefi: the village of Llanddewi Brefi stands on the spot where the ground on which he stood is reputed to have risen up to form a small hill.It wasn't the fact he created a hill that was the miracle;- it was the miracle that the people actually noticed another hill in Wales! :-)
