Frozen Patchwork

After the "warmer" temperatures of last week (as in the low 30's F), I really thought that winter was loosening it's grip, but it's hanging on tight! It was 2 below zero this morning on my way to work, & only up to 6 degrees after work! The news is broadcasting a monster storm that has the potential to rage on for 36 hours straight & affect some 100 million people. It's starting accross the central states & they predict it will be heading slowly East across parts of the midwest. Right now, according to the map, we're on the far northern edge of it, & providing it stays to the south, we'll mostly have just frigid temps. If it moves even a little bit north, we'll be socked with it too! They're predicting airports, buses, & trains will all be closed down! March is coming in with a roar! My pic today is of Lake Michigan & it's patchwork of ice! The ice is starting to separate, & the water out beyond the breakers is flowing pretty freely, but inside the breakers, there are still huge chunks of ice! It reminded me of a piecework quilt, where odds & ends of fabric remnants are all stitched together to make one huge quilt. (Altho' this one won't keep you warm!! Best viewed large. :)
