Black History Month

February is Black History Month in the US.

While I was walking around Pasadena near City Hall I came across this monument to the Robinson Brothers.

Jackie Robinson was an American baseball player who was the first African American to play in the Major League Baseball in the 20th century. He played for the Brooklyn Dodgers, the first major league team to play a black man since the 1880s, ending the racial segregation which had forced the black players to the Negro leagues. Jackie played for the Dodgers over 10 seasons in the 40s and 50s

Jackie's older brother, Mack, was an athlete who won silver for the men's 200 meters at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin.
