2 weeks late

I should have blipped this on Valentines day. It is the Heart Shaped Wood which you pass on the M6 in the Tebay gorge.

We have passed it so many times on the motorway that we decided to take the minor road on our way back today so that we could stop and look at it properly.

There are loads of romantic theories why it is heart shaped. The truth is somewhat more prosaic and something to do with the shape of the walls. There's even a folk song about it

An added bonus was that shortly after taking this picture we saw the Scots Guardsman steam train as it was ascending Shap. I took some pictures which unfortunately are not very sharp because it was a bit of a rush getting the camera out.

Apparently it is doing the same trip next Saturday and as we have decided to go back up to Keswick next weekend to finish off the jobs I will try to get out to take a picture of it then.
